Answers:
The safest way is to get them recycled. How? Either through your local garbage pickup. Dropoff at city arranged sites, or recylcing centers. Give them to others to use so they don't buy even more that will get into the ecosystem.
Throw them in an old miscellaneous garbage can.
the trash can
call your city offices. ie water or waste mgmt and they will be able to help
Have a yard sale. I KNOW people will buy anything if the price is cheap enough. If they don't buy it, put "FREE" out on your yard and that will take away anything left.

Gather them all up, carefully, and take them to the local hazardous waste station. Your garbage hauler or recycling company can help you locate the station if you cannot find it with Dexonline.
If you have any cans of paint this can usually go in the garbage if the lids are removed to let the paint completely dry first. But, if you are making a trip to the hazardous waste station, I would go ahead and take everything that they will accept.
