Finding Out Who Owns A Abandoned House?

Question:Hi,

There's a house in my village that has been derelict for as long as I have lived there (about 2 1/2 years). I'm interested in finding out exactly who owns the property to see if I could buy it off them. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can find out who owns the property?

I'm going to ask the neighbours of the property to see if they know but if they don't know - then I have no clue where to try next.

Cheers for any help.

Answers:
Go the Land Registry site (just put Land Registry in and it will come up) and you can request to know who owns a property, I think cost is about £3. I think you can do it all online. Good Luck.

Town Hall, local land registry.
Go to town hall and then go to the tax assessors office and they will be able to pull the field card with the information you are looking for will be on it.
town hall, local land registry, local council or if all that fails an estate agent would be able to help.
Barrowboy is right you can goto the Land Registry website and get the title deeds from there, cost is about £3 and it is immediately available in .pdf format.
council tax office? Voter roll?
