Squirrel question?
Question:I have many squirrels that come to my yard so I began feeding them deer corn. The problem was they would bury it and then it would grow. I ran out of corn and they dug holes in the yard to get their stash of corn. Is there any way to discourage this or is it just something they do? I have since quit feeding them because my husband was quite upset with all the small holes in the yard. They still come to my yard, but I think they have quit looking for buried corn. I don't want to discourage them from coming into my yard because I like to watch them play around. Thanks in advance.

This will work if you have a good size tree. Buy a large jar of cheap, chunky peanut butter. Remove the lid and attach it to the tree with a screw. Screw the jar back onto the lid, and then punch a small hole in the bottom of the jar. The squirrels will have a blast getting the peanut butter out.and you'll have fun watching them!!
thats normal for them, theres not much you can do to stop them
it's natural they know that someday you are not going to be able to feed them or they are not going to be able to find any other food so they think that they have to bury it in order to survive you can either stop feeding them or feed them in a different spot than your front yard like a park in the country or a remote area where no one would care.
If you just like to see the squirrels in your yard, put out sunflower seeds. They love them, but will eat the seeds right away and not bury them or make holes.
That is just their natural instinct. You can't change it. They bury acorns too. It's what squirrels do.
You may have started a nuisance because squirrels are very aggressive and can destroy property outside or inside your house.I would start by buying your husband a pellet gun and he can start shooting them when they get in your yard also think about screening your chimney top and any attic vent holes.STOP FEEDING THE WILDLIFE let them find food on their own.
i was going to say the same thing the other girl said. SunFlower Seeds . another bonus of the seeds is that they stick around and eat them , instead of taking off with them.
...or you could always just tell you hubby that aeration is good for the yard. :)

We feed the squirrels corn and i've never seen this behavior. Like someone above said, try sunflower seeds. Two other cheaper things they like to eat are unshelled peanuts (really cute to watch this) and bread.
