Which would use more energy and/or money?

Question:Using my light in my room(and closing my blinds) which would require electricity, OR opening my blinds which would allow heat in but save the electricity from not using my light..Sorry if that sounds a little confusing.

Answers:
Generating heat is more expensive than generating light.

For instance, a typical globe is rated at about 100W. You may have two lights, and a reading lamp. This wattage would add up to no more than 250W (roughly).

Electric fires and heaters start at about 1500W and move up to 2400W. You can see there is a magnitude of difference in this. I would keep the room warm, and spend money on lighting as my preference.

I think you should get a compact fluorescent light bulb. They last much longer than a regular bulb and use much less electricity. Here's the wikipedia page on them:
