How necessary is it to level out the ground before putting an above ground pool there?

Question:its just grass and it seems level enough...is sanding to level it a necessary step? how much would it cost to hire someone to level the ground and install the pool?

Answers:
It is EXTREMELY necessary!

Its pretty expensive to have someone come out and do it, but if you can't get a group of people to help you do the hard task of taking the time to do it properly you're wasting your time and money to put the pool in. (not to mention the dangers involved if you don't)

The pool liner will rip at best, but more important the pool will eventually collapse so it's not worth the risk to cut corners.

Even a small pool will collapse if the ground isn't level.

So fire up the BBQ!!, make gallons of fresh lemon aid, get yur bikini on :-P and call out all those burly neighbors and have a pool installing pArty! lol

Call your local pool store to get ideas of what all needs to be done the professional way then you can determine which way is the most economical and possible for you to plan the installation.

My friends and I did his pool and it took a weekend to get the ground done correctly. (but it was very hot out at the time so takes a bit more energy and one can only make so much lemon aid LOL

if uneven then the pool doesn't sit even, and then the water will not be able to be filled up to the highest level. Plus it can put strain on the low side
No matter what you do, it won't be level! (**) I put an above ground pool out every year and it seems it leans at some spot! I do think you know your yard and would know after a rain or whatever if the ground still level or was there a spot that sunk.
If you're not sure you might want to add some top soil!

Your water level on one side will be higher if you don't level it to begin with. Be sure to remove all roots and debris before you install the liner and fill with water... Foot traffic on the bottom will cut holes through the liner in no time if the bottom is not completely clear.

I hope this helps!
It is extremely important. One reason is that no installer will guarantee the installation if not (maybe won't even do the install). Remove all weeds and growth and I would advise laying down roofing felt paper extending a foot outside the diameter to prevent growth. Then apply sand to give the bottom of the liner a soft place to sit on. Cost for installation and leveling depends on your area and how busy they are.
YOU CAN DO IT YOURSELF, BUT YES SAND KEEPS THE GRASS AND OTHER THINGS FROM GROWING THOUGH THE LINER WHICH WOULD CAUSE LEAKAGE AND MAKING IT LEVEL IS A MUST ASWELL TO MAKE THE WATER EVEN AND THE SIDES MORE STABLE
