Is it safe to run a deep freezer on an extension cord?

Question:

Answers:
Household extension cords are not a good idea. As firefighter mentioned they are a serious fire hazard. Additionally, you'll have a power drop across household extension cords that will cause freezer motor damage. You can use a 10 or 12 gauge extension cord up to about 25 feet. For 25 or more feet, relocate the freezer to a more convenient power outlet or have a licensed electrician wire an auxiliary outlet for you. Extension cords have a nasty habit of getting unplugged, so label both ends with an electrically non-conductive tag. And, of course, insure that the cord is not a tripping hazard.

Not for a permanent time. Also make sure it is a very heavy duty cord, or else you may be asking for trouble.
