If you can't put in a window air conditioner, the next best bet is to install 2 fans, one through the roof sucking air out and one in the wall near the floor near your work station bringing air in. You will get decent air flow but will only be able to keep the temperature inside at best about 5 degrees hotter than the outside air temp.
If that's still not an option put in light colored venetian blinds on the windows and leave the doors and windows open. Use the portable fans you have to blow air in one side of the shed and out the other. Without mechanical cooling available, large amounts of airflow through the shed is your next best bet. Painting the outside of the shed white won't hurt either.
Use dark curtains!
take the stuff outta the shed and put them in the basement, cuz its always cool down there
If it's hot out, keep the windows closed. If it gets too hot still, try opening one window, putting the fan in it backwards, so the air from the room gets sucked out. That might make it cooler.
Paint the sheds exterior white. Plant a shade tree near it.
Dark curtains certainly aren't the answer, as they will store up heat. Unless you are willing to spring for air conditioning, your out of options. To keep the sun out, use light colored, but heavy curtains. Their drawback is they will also limit ventilation. Get a cooler and ice down some beverages.
Find a way to vent the heat out of the top of the shed.
