Question:Me and my parents are getting a brand new house in November. This is the first time we've actually ever owned our own house. I was thinking of painting my walls kind of a pastel pinkish.. and doing the trim in black. My bedding is black satin, with two hearts in the middle, one pink and one white.. and i also have a black and pink shag rug. My computer is black, and the keyboard and mouse gel things are pink. I think it all goes together really good, but you do think i should do a contrasting color instead? If so.. what?

No way skip out on the black trim sounds awful how about white? But if that is going to make your heart content you can always paint over it!
Throw some really bright Fushia in there, with pillows or something.
Accent with a mint green or pale yellow

What about painting the walls a more neutral color, even a soft yellow. that way if and when you want to change your colors, painting the walls won't be one of the jobs. Accents are best when they can jump out at you rather than be thrown in your face without any other color around. You want your eyes to wonder the room. Congratulations! If you like those colors and it is ok with your folks, then go for it. Remember that the black trim will show more dust so you may have to clean your room more. Anyway, the amount of paint for trim is a realtively small amount so if it doesn't work you can try something else.
