While I've never had this problem before, you made me think of this thread in a community. There are lots of ideas of what to use to repel ants. Of course, the best thing to do would be to apply these to the point of entry so as to keep ants from entering your house in the first place.
try washing it with white vinegar..
agreed - vinegar will 'destroy' the ant trails
so will a 9mm.
I found a nontoxic ant repellent some years ago at the hardware store. I don't know if it's still made, but the active ingredient was mint oil.
You can buy Spectracide. It is only toxic if it is wet, once it dries it is safe for kids and pets. I also asked the exterminator that sprays at my work and he said the same thing, its pretty good stuff and you can buy it at walmart. It has an odor to it, but once it dries you cant even smell it.
Put wheat germ out, the ants take it home and can't digest it! It should do the trick, plus wheat germ's good for you (though not very good)
Eithr one of these remedies will work, you can take corn meal, or 20 Mule Team Borax laudry soap, put it in one of the cheap ketchup bottles that you can get at any dollar store, snip the tip of the bottle top off a little so that you can apply a line of either the corn meal or the borax along the back of the counter top, also put it around the plumbing under the sink, leave it lay for a few days until you no longer see any signs of the ants..both products will kill them, they can't digest the corn meal and the borax is poision to them...I have used the borax remedy for years and my grandmother also used it. Just vacuum up the excess when you no longer see any signs of the ants and use the rest of the detergent to do laundry with!
