How can i attract hedgehogs?

I was reading this and it suggested attracting them, my question is,
Are they everywhere?
Is this a good idea?
What are the disadvantages?
Will it attract rats instead?

about 8 to 9 oclock in mid summer put some cat food out they love cat food in your garden and sit and wait. but it also depends were you live
if hedgehogs wanted to live in your garden they would.they do have fleas y'know!! cute as they are!
Disadvantages are that they are flee infested so if you have dogs or cats they will pick the flees up off the hedgehogs!
Why exactly DO you want to attract hedgehogs? They are wild animals, leave them alone to do what hedgehogs do!
I'd say in September or in October they are usually by doorsteps due to milk being there. Leave milk out for them but I suppose that will attract cats and certain birds too.
Never leave milk out for them as it causes gastric problems.
First check if you are being visited; this can be shown by little dark droppings like those of a very small dog left on your grass. Next check that there is access to your garden; hedgehogs can climb a bit but not high fences or walls. Only leave food out if you are sure there are hedghogs coming otherwise it will attract rats and mice.
One other thing, if you do get them, they will uncurl if you talk softly to them or even sing gently. They are curious animals and can get very relaxed when they know you. They like dog or cat food on a low saucer and will polish off slugs and snails in your garden. If you have a pond make sure they can get out if they fall in; lots of places now sell ramps for ponds to aid drowning hedgehogs.
If you do get hedgehogs, then you can put out extra food for them to keep them coming; especially in the autumn when the lateborn youngsters need to put on weight fast to survive the winter. They are widespread animals but in decline so need a bit of help if we can give it.

With regads to your questions we are everywhere, who do you think repairs the roads at nightime I even have a fluorescent jacket. (no tyre treads on me)
I'm only attracted to Mrs Hedgyhog and pretty a lady like you must be. Rats bite me so I jag them up the bum, we don't have much disadvantages you'll be happy to know.

Why do you have to be different than anyone else. Others want to get rid of snails and slugs and beetles...because that's what they eat. Hedgehogs are nocturnal and if you see one in the daytime they are sick. They look for some ones garden that has a pile of hedge clippings and there they sleep.
Hi,I have hedgehogs & it is awfull.I use to feed them all the time have had to stop as the last couple of years I have had rats in my loft.Even feeding the birds attracts them.
