There was a lot of ants on my sunflowers.are they eating it or pollunating?
Question:the sunflowers have not blossomed yet so im not sure if the ants are good for the growth or not.but today i noticed the leafs looks dry and looks like the plants are dying.
Answers:
they're taking it away to their queen lol
i think they're drinking the water? i don't know i'm not a plant expert.
They are either eating it or raising aphids like milk cows on there. Ants don't pollinate. I don't think the 'union of worker honeybees' would stand for it.
Actually I think ants are good for sunflowers. In the movie "The messenger" they grow sunflowers and talked about not having enough ants. But dont hold me to it.
They are probably killing your flowers. A good way to get rid of them without further harming your sunflowers is to sprinkle grits around your plants and one the ant beds. The grits have the same effect on the ants as rice does on birds. They also take it to the Qeen and when she dies the ant bed dies.
