What is the likelyness to carry cockroached in my situation?
Question:well im moving from a multi-family apartment complex in the city to a big 4 bedroom house in the country. Im moveing in a month(its also a 3 hour drive) I have seen about 4 cockroaches in the past six months in my apartment I am wondering how likely is it that I will bring the cockroaches to my new house??
Answers:
If roaches are in your current living space, you will no doubt take them with you. I'd get some pest foggers & use them before moving. You could also place a number of canisters into the moving van when you depart, since the truck will be closed tight during the 3 hr trip to your new place. You could then unpack outside of your new place. Inspect items before bringing them inside. Dispose of the packing materials outside.
Probably pretty likely.I had a similar problem with another bug that breeded in dry food. We took so many bugs to the new house. When packing go through all the food and look carefully for eggs that look like ovals about the size of a liquid advil but brown. It might be a pain but in the long run it will save you from having to exterminate.
It is possible and the most likely place for them is in the packing boxes. The cardboard boxes with the wavy/corrugated inner section and smooth on both outer sides is where they like to hide. It is dark and they LOVE the animal glue used to stick the boxes together. When you reach your destination, do all your unpacking outside away from the house to help eliminate the possible transfer to your new home. If you suspect any roaches, burn the boxes once emptied. Good luck!
hi ally, i had the same situation you are in now...was moving from a roach infested complex and feared taking them along.
so what we did was check the boxes we were using as we packed...as soon as the box was packed, it was moved out of the house to one of our trucks. there were 4 of us moving so there was a lot to pack. we all did this routine. then on moving day, i had movers for the furniture... I had checked all drawers and was hoping for the best. we all started to unpack and lo and behold, we had brought one with us, still alive, which we swiftly took care of and we never saw another roach, thank goodness. i wish you the very best, in not taking any along with you. it's all in careful packing and getting that box out of the house right then. and then, check as you unpack. good luck! i hope this helped! :)
Just wait until you see the giant roaches found in the Country! Ha! So.. Bring in clean, new boxes, pack them, and tape them closed - seal them shut. Dispose of open foodstuffs. It is a good idea to apply pesticide (your choice of natural or chemical) in your new place while it's empty, so you can get the backs of cabinets and baseboards and such before you unpack all your stuff. Then, if you bring along any undesired passengers, they're essentially DOA. Good luck with your move!
very likely.cockroaches mulitply buy the thousands try to stay away from packing in card card board boxs when moving shake spray than pack all the items you are taking in persprayed platic bags atfer the move throw away are you bags and shipping boxes roaches love to live in card board..under stoves behind frigs toasters make sure they are spray good be fore you move them.
It's gonna happen.
Get some combat bait discs.
I had a visiter from Florida bring them into my home in herds! I was soooooo p_ssed!
I tried bombing and no luck. Then I grabbed the Combat roach bait discs. They ate the food inside and all died! I love that stuff!!
It comes in a 10 or 12 pack.use now and also in your home to avoid any breeding possibilities. You'll thank me later! I hate those things with a passion! (I also kicked the visitor out permanently for good)
More than likely. I don't know how you feel about chemicals but and idea - use a roach bomb in your new home before moving in. Any that decide to move with you won't last long. Be sure to follow the directions on cans. I don't like using them because of it getting on everything but if you haven't moved in yet, it would be a good time to use it.
