What are the options for public storage?

Question:I'm thinking of using one to store some good for a short period of time i.e. 6 months. I notice there are indoor ones, outdoor ones, ones that use old shipping containers, etc. I probably wont need much more than a 10' x 15' x 8'. What should I know about these places, and is there a better/cheaper option. Thanks

Answers:
Can you store the stuff on your property? Some places rent tractor-trailers, you might find one cheap.

Try a pod service. They drop off a pod, you fill it up, and they haul it off. When you need the stuff back, they deliver it to your location.

If the stuff is sensitive to temperature/moisture, get an inside climate controlled unit, otherwise a garage type place will be ok. See if you can find pallates or shelves to store your goods on. Box up your stuff well so that it doesn't get dust in the goods.

Contact the police and ask if they have records of reported breakins at the storage facility you are considering. The places that have on-site management will be a little safer than un-attended places. All have some trouble with breakins. Go by once a week to check the lock on your door and make sure it hasn't been tampered with.

Just ask around or do searchs online and see which one most people approve.
