How to trim a fruit tree less than 3 feet tall?

Question:I had planted a hybrid tangerine orange tree two years ago. It produced one fruit which I paid no attention to. My question is that now that it is about 3 feet tall, should I clip some of the branches in order for it to be a straight tree? It looks more like a bush right now and I don't want to do the wrong thing to it. I don't want it to become a bush and want it to be a fruit bearing tree in time. Any advice would be helpful.

Answers:
You should cut off any crossover shoots, the shoots that grow from one branch and pass by another branch. It's this type of growth that makes it look more like a bush and will make it difficult to bear much fruit.

Good luck.
