How to get a stain off a leather chair?

Question:I left a magazine on my tan leather chair and i guess since it was warm in the house the inks from the magazine left a small line on the chair. Any way to remove it without damaging the leather?

Answers:
You have what is known as dye transfer and it depends on what type of leather you have as to how successful you will be in removing it.

If it is on an aniline leather then the stain could be permanent, however with cleaning and protecting with good quality products (not supermarket brands) it may dissipate over time.

If you have a pigmented leather (a coated one) you should try Maxi Cleaner as this is the only product that was designed for that purpose. If this does not work then nothing you can actually buy will work and you need a leathr technician to have a look at it.

DO NOT use:
Baby wipes (the worst)
Anything containing waxes oils or silicones (auto products, furniture polish, conditioners)
Alcohol, or solvents of any kind.

Any of these may make any repairs required impossible as they will leave residues on the surface of the leather.
