What to do with dead batteries?

Question:In this day and age of everything going 'Green" with environmental safety. What is the best way to discard dead batteries? Is there a comapny that deals with this or do we continue to throw them away?

Answers:
does your local landfill have recycling? or bins scattered around various collection points? put them in sealable plastic bags and put in recycle bin. many localities have free disposal days, ours is held at a volunteer fire company, so we store them up for a free drop-off day, also dried out paint, fluorescent lightbulbs, etc.

You can take them to your local dump or recycling center.
Call your local garbage or recycling company and see if they will take them for recycling, or some of the computer stores or office supply places will take dead batteries for recycling. If it is a car battery then most auto parts stores will accept them or might charge you a few dollars. Try the web site below for places that accept batteries for recycling near you.
