A friend keeps a couple of beehives in my garden, and things certainly get very quiet at night. I don't know if they actually nod off, though. Perhaps they spent the night dealing with the day's collection of pollen. Day or night, how do they see to work in there, without windows?

Any living creature needs to rest, they may not sleep in the same manner that we do, but they most certainly will rest at points during the day and at night. They're not nocturnal either so as we do, the majority of their rest period will be at night.
