Answers:
If you spray the bug with hairspray, it will temporarily freeze the bug and he should fall to the floor. Then you can pick him up and take him out or squish it.
fly swatter
If you own a feather duster you're in luck.
Gently coax the hornet out with the end of the feather duster. His hairy little legs will attach to the feathers/fibres just long enough for you to get it to the window or door. Then gently tap the end of the feather duster on the outside of the door/window frame and he should fly off.
Believe it or not...HAIRSPRAY!! It will harden their wings and won't be able to fly. You may want to use the fly swatter after that!!
butterfly net.
Is the heat going to kill you for a little while, ever heard of a broom and smashing the bug , or perhaps raid, i know its hard to concieve but bug spray is a good start...
Yes...hairspray! But point it at the little f'uck and put a bic lighter in front of it, creating a blow torch and burn him to a crisp! Blue hornet? Never heard of that.
Shiny iridescent dark blue? You probably have a mud dauber wasp on your hands. They are fairly nonaggressive, as they are a solitary type of wasp, not like the biggies with the huge paper nests, so you don't have to be THAT terrified of it.. If you can cover the windows and make the place as dark as you can, and open the door, the insect will fly towards the light coming in, and your problem will be solved. I don't believe in swatting; mud daubers kill many caterpillars and insects that are harmful.
