The only sure way to get rid of anything is to trap it. From there you may either relocate it far away or euthanize it. I've recently had to do that with some raccoons.
The chances of a fox bothering children are next to none though if that helps at all.
first get some bait and wash you're hands and set a trail deep into the woods then try to have a border that smells around the childrens play area
If you see a fox or raccoon in your yard in the day time, I would be concerned, because that is a sign of rabies.those two animals are nocturnal, and it is unusual to see them out during the day, unless they are sick. Wild animals are scared of people for the most part, and have been since God kicked Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden, up until then, animals did not fear man, because there was no reason to. Anyway, if you see a fox or a raccoon that does not run from you, I would kill it, or trap it. If you send an animal off to get tested however, they cut its head off...that is the only way to test for rabies I guess. So rather than try to catch it alive, and risk harm to myself or my family, I would kill it.
call animal control or put up a fence
Having a fox in the area is a good thing. You won't have any rodents because they eat mice, and foxes avoid humans for the most part so there's little reason to worry about getting bitten.
Get a dog or a dog catcher, call animal control if you have such.
I hope you have a large Lab or Golden Retriever for the kids. Years ago, in Yellowstone Park campgrounds, people used to sprinkle Parson's Ammonia all around the parameters of their campsites to keep the black and brown bears away. However, I wouldn't worry. I can't stand children myself, but I'm only human.
