Why are their no clocks at supermarkets?

Question:I been to few supermarkets or malls and stryggled to find any big clocks displaying time. any reason?

Answers:
There is in my local sainsbury's. But if they are absent then it's so you can shop for hours without realising the time.

its probably deliberate...just like that awful "relaxing" music they play in the background too, to lull you into a trance and you just buy and buy things. If you had a reminder of the time you would snap out of it and finish quicker!
Every supermarket we have has at least one clock in them.
Well they don't want you to realise how long you're in their shops buying stuff/shopping till you drop. They don't want you to be distracted do they? I've never thought about this, but its a very GOOD point. So you'll be getting a star. lol
probably so you don't rush
It so you lose track of time and spend more time and money shopping!
Try and find a clock, or a window, in a casino. It's simple marketing. No concept of time means more time spent on the happy side of the register.
Obviously they want you to spend more time than you really need because that means you'll also spend more money than you really have.
so you arent paying attention to the time you spend in there so you can spend more and more, then as your going home with your shopping billboards remind you that you havent bought anything in 2 minutes, get home pack away your shopping to have more products shoved down your throat on tv,turn the tv off, put on the net,buy something BUY SOMETHING,the phone rings and some phone company thinks you should switch to them so you kill yourself to escape it all only to find heaven is sponsered by coca cola
everything has a reason within supermarkets. They employ all sorts of tricks to make you stay and buy.
probably they want you to forget about time and spend as long as possible in their shop spending money.
well i guess you aint looking my local morrisons has two clocks which dangle from the ceiling partly obscured with all the bogof banners. saying that my mum has shopped there for years and has only become aware of them after i pointed one out so mabe its a common thing that people arnt aware of there existence as not only been concious of how much we spend in them we would also be aware of how much time we spend in them lol
There's a big clock in our local Asda!
For the same reason there are no clocks in Las Vegas gambling casinos. The longer you stay you're more than likely to spend more.
So you cant tell just how long you have had to wait at the check out. I complained to a supervisor at Tesco why only half the checkouts were manned and there were about 5 people queueing at each one. The reply I got was that one shift had ended and there was a gap before the next employees arrived.Seems like bad management to me,
we have a big clock in our local supermarket it's on the wall near the checkout.
I live in England
They are hoping you will stay longer, if there was a clock you might not stay as long.
Probably the same phsycological reason that there are no windows in IKEA stores.

If they can keep you on their premises longer they will because you will buy more than you intended unless you are really strong willed.

It is a bit like the cold callers that nail you at home, Hello my name is Gunga Din, How are you? All marketing ploys.
Our Somerfield supermarket has one.
maybe this is because they don't want you to know how much time you have spent in there so you won't be in a rush to leave. or perhaps in the hope that you will search the shop looking for a clock and more things to buy will catch your eye?
For the obvious reason they want you to stay, relaxed and spending. All their cunning displays and offers would be wasted if you were reminded of the time, dropped your basket/trolley and rushed off to catch the train/collect the kids from school/make the tea etc.
Its so that you get lost in shopping! you won't realise how long you've been in the shop and keep buying things.
our local supermarkets do have clocks--but at the front of the shop so you only really see them when exiting the shop!
No wonder I'm always in there for over an hour!!
Hardware stores sell bigclocks but supermarkets sould sell alarm clocks.
