How do I get the food frozen to the bottom of my freezer out Fast!?
Question:The electric outlet where my chest freezer was plugged in tripped. We didn't notice it for about 3 days. The food was still partically frozen so my husband reset the outlet and the freeze came back on. We didn't notice that a large amount of water had accumulated in the bottom of the freezer now the food on the bottom of the freeze is stuck to the freezer in a large block of ice. I tried pulling it out by hand but I ended up ripping one of the bags and now the meat is exposed. I really need to get this out fast. How can I get it out as fast as possible?
Answers:
If your freezer was unplugged lot enough to get that much water on the bottom, you should really consider chucking everything out.
To have that much water, you must of had alot of frost built up on the inside of the freezer, and frost builds up because there is warm air leeking into the freezer because the door is not sealing properly.
General rule of thumb is to leave ice cubes in a baggie.
If you open the freezer and the ice cubes are now one clump of ice, your freezer has been without power, and you should chuck your food because you do have a very good odds of the food being spoiled.
What you can also do is to put a night light in the same plug in as the freezer. You will notice the light when it is off alot faster.
Hair dryer.
