Good and cheap don't often come hand in hand when it comes to Petrol mowers.
I used to work for a dealer that sold McCulloch mowers etc, and they were really cheap and nasty.
Go to your local independant Mower dealer, and ask for one of their P/X's. Most do them, and they are less of a risk than getting one from the classifieds.
I was trying to buy a good cheap petrol mower last summer and I looked everywhere. I finally found one in the Cheap Petrol Mower shop just down the road. Hope that helps.

beleive it or not amazon is a good place to look, though previous answerer did state they were from 39.99, that was for electric.
