I am trying to identify a plant - it may be a form of Rudbekia.....?
Question:When I was a child it grew like a weed in our garden, tall, spindly, leafy sunflowers with typical 'sand paper' leaves. It grows to about 3 foot. Every year my Mother would pull it up but it always came back. I would like to have this plant in my garden but can't seem to track it down anywhere. Plenty of Black Eyed Susans, and although similar it's not one of them. I have seen it in a garden locally and twice I have tried to pull up a root in passing - no luck so far! Can anyone identify this lovely old plant for me?? Thank you.

I bveleive that I have some of these in my yard, are they real prickly, with flower blooms at the tops of them and they look more like a weed?
access the Royal Horticultural Society website at : www.rhs.org.uk - follow the links to their plant identification section type in what you think your plant is and take it from there.
Instead of trying a crafty grab-it-and-run, why not knock on the door and ask. Your method is stealing, asking will get you an armful of plants for setting or a quick run down the street with a big dog biting your ankles. We are told to do something to make our hearts jump at least once per day, get in there and start knocking.
