Get rid of it immediately - it's a lily beetle and will kill your lilies. Squash it.

not too sure
hi Its called a Lily beetle you need to pick them off!
Its a Lily beetle, get rid of them they will kill all your lillies.
LILLY BEETLE Kill it at once! Look for more, they will strip it bare in no time at all otherwise!
The best way is crush it underfoot or squeeze the life out of them.
The red lily beetle! Just buy some Sevin and spray your lillies .I only have to spray twice a season problem solved ..
It's The red Lily leaf beetle (Lilioceris lilii) .

That black sticky deposit is the egg mass & must be destroyed quickly—they hatch in just 7 to 10 days. The eggs are usually laid on the undersides of leaves or along the stem. They are very tiny and hard, so it takes some focused effort to make sure they've been crushed. The larvae's black, sticky "fecal shield" seems to provide it with some protection from sprays, so spray coverage must be heavy and complete. (1)

Here's what the Gardenweb forum recommends:
Remove these pests manually when there's just a few. However, when many susceptible plants are attacked, use Neem oil, which have been shown to kill larvae & to deter the adults. Apply early in the growing season because it makes the leaves unpalatable to adults, (making them move on) & prevents them from laying too many eggs. They have a 30 day cycle. Be vigilant over the summer to make sure the plants are kept clean, & remove mulch that might harbor eggs. Some people also use a spray of Murphy's oil soap in water effectively. (2)

Read the gardenweb post of Gary Peterborough, who has over two hundred Asian Lillys & enters garden competitions. His successful battle with Lily beetles is encouraging. "I mix 15 ml of Neem Oil and 15 ml of Insecticidal Soap in a one litre spray bottle of warm water. Then after spraying all of my plants and the neighbours as well. I kept looking for the elusive little critters and if I saw even one I sprayed again. Now I have beautiful growth and no holes in the leaves. I haven't lost any of my plants."

The Royal Horticultural Society recommends spraying infested plants with imidacloprid + sunflower oil (Bayer Provado Ultimate Bug Killer concentrate) or thiacloprid (Provado Ultimate Bug Killer Ready To Use). The larvae are more susceptible to insecticides than the adults.(3)
Merit (imidacloprid) is a systemic insecticide that is absorbed into the plant, which means one application usually lasts a few weeks.
Applied in the early season as a soil drench around emerging plants, or used as a foliar spray. Early season treatments are critical for keeping populations under control. (1)

The good news is that if you control well one year, the next year there will be few beetles because they haven't overwintered in your Lily bed. It's about stopping the cycle to eliminate another generation of beetles from developing.

Hope this helps! Happy Gardening!
Its a lilly beetle. GET RID OF IT STRAIGHT AWAY. Not good. It will destroy your lillies.
