Question:that autumn is coming already.?
my Partenocissus tricuspidata veitchii is turning red already!
I am still waiting for summer to start. :-(
Answers:
well, the berries on my rowan dont usually get red until the end of july - and then the birds pick them all off within the first day - they're starting to turn orange already - i think we're at least 2 weeks ahead of schedule.
they say that we still might have a good summer - but this might not start until xmas !!!
arnt we all waiting for summer to start, crazy weather lately
it's 116 where I m right now...wish fall was here stop crying you guys
If you have been experiencing a drought in your area that could be the cause of your plant turning red. During times of droughts plants such as trees or vining plants will hasten up some of their leaves to compensate for the lack of water that they are getting. So that they do not lose water in their trunks/ vines.
Sounds like you might have had a cool night or two; with lots of plants, when the temp drops below a certain level, they start losing chlorophyll and turning red no matter how warm it is during the day.
Some of my plants think it's fall already too; my chrysanthemums and hyacinth bean vines are blooming already. We have had more rain (it rained every day for 17 days straight) and cooler temperatures. You wouldn't be in the Oklahoma area, would you? Be patient. Summer will get here.
Right now, I'm wishing for the cool autumn days! It's been over 100 for a week now and the next two weeks are about the same! Very unusual weather for this part of Utah! Almost everything has stopped growing due to the heat! My cotton plants are thriving though - all 2 of them!
