Is it true that Palm trees and Palmetto bugs/cockroaches are related?

Question:The landscaper said that cockroaches nest in Palm trees and I have one in my yard and see cockroaches in the yard and in my house.

Is this true? Is there anything I can do without cutting down the palm tree??
