What is this plant?
Question:Its leaves looks kinda like Poison Oak, but its not a single plant, the root runs underground and these sprout up out of the ground, the root is hard to pull out. Everywhere I touch it I break out. I showered right after and I still have a rash on my skin. Looks like a poison oak rash..
Answers:
The poison oak rash is cause by a chemical called urushiol. This is present in poison oak leaves, branches, roots, everything. When you touch it, the oil is absorbed into the skin. This is a poisonous substance, and the rash is the result of your body's immune system fighting against this invader.
You can get poison oak by touching the plant, its leaves orroots. If an animal, such as your dog, gets in Poison Oak you can get it from petting the dog (the dog won't get the rash though). You can get it from your clothing that touches Poison Oak.
There is a saying "If the leaves are three, let it be! The roots, too, are volatile.
A man I know swears by a product called Cort Aid which he says clears up the itching and rash in a day or so.
I've taken prednisone for it and also used TECHNU-or something like that
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but, by your description, your guess is correct. Try some heavy-duty gloves (cheap) and toss them out after your next weeding session. Avoid at all costs touching the outer surface of the glove when you remove them. Grab them by the cuff and peel them off, turning them inside-out as you do so. Your clothes will also be covered with the oily "poison", although you probably won't be able to see it. Shed them as well and launder immediately.
Leaves of three let them be.. either that or Ivy, if your breaking out. I suggest using gloves and cover yourself well in clothing.
If it looks like a duck...
