When is it safe for me to prune my azalea bushes?

Question:

Answers:
You need to prune the azaleas right after they bloom.. If you wait until later in the summer you will cut off next years flowers. I wait until the flowers are drying up on the bush and then about in May ( in the South) trim them back to the height I want them to be next year. Also you might want to know that you don't put any fertilizer (after October)-- this will cause them to put out new growth and it will be killed by frost. Don't know where you live but this is Alabama where the azaleas bloom in April and May
Good gardening to you and may your garden be filled with beautiful flowers always.
