Why are my tomatoes rotting onthe bottom when theyget red?
Question:
Answers:
Tomato plants need to be watered regularly. If you live in a dry part of the country, then you should water early morning.
If they get too dry or too wet they will develop bottom rot.
A little added info: When you are ready to harvest cease watering and you will have much tastier tomatoes.
its called bottom rot do a pH test of the soil you can pick one up at your local exchange office. you might have too much of something and not enough of something else in the soil
We had the same problems last year. The only thing we could figure was the extreme heat.
Insects might be attacking, and adjust the amount of water you give them to their ideal amount.
pick em pink they will ripen in the house-till the problem is stopped
it is cause by a combination of things-too much heat, water and type of fertilizer- you should use miracle grow or 10X10 and in the ground or a planter at least 1 1/2 feet around 12 " deep
the fertilizer used as specified taking the heat into consideration -evaporation makes it more concentrated.
and lighten up for yourself but try to shield them in the heat of the day 1-3pm
to lighten up="In marriage the bed is undefiled, but all others shall be judged." Hebrews 13 the same chapter that tells us once we let Jesus into our heart "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee."
on faith=our best - good grooming hair to toes, with nice clothing kept.
to think our best - read the bible and get directions-especially the book of proverbs-i read 3 verses of it a day for 3 days, and then 3 new ones-greatest book of wisdom in the greatest book of smartness-the bible
yet to get the connection we must apply the answer from within-This helped me as born a Jew to realize =when we admit we need something more we are ready to consider the one that gave it all for us, to help us.
As promised "Unto us a child is born a son is given, and he will be the mighty God, the wonderful counselor, and the prince of peace." Isaish 9:6
He said "I go to the cross for the joy set before me, that you might believe." Gospel words of Jesus
"As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten, repent quickly therefore (even of one lie) and turn to me. Behold I stand at your heart door and knock, if you hear my word and open the door I will come in and be your friend." Revelation 3:19&20
So I prayed and had this need fulfilled in my life ="Jesus I am sorry for my sins, thanks for dying for me and promising to come into my heart to help me, please do and be my friend, amen."
A new wonderful life began for me-and is offered to each person.
May you have a great day, I am praying for you and each plant concerned, David
It is caused by a shortage of calcium in the soil.
try watering the ground, not the plant. do it in the morning when it's not as hot. or try calcuim. egg shells crushed works well.
This is called blossom-end rot and is caused by a lack of calcium in the soil or a problem in the uptake of calcium by the plant. Poor uptake can be caused by sever moisture fluctuations, high amounts of competitive cations in the soil, or rapid, vegetative growth due to excessive nitrogen fertilization.
Some of the things you can do are to maintain a soil PH of around 6.5. Use nitrate nitrogen as the fertilizer nitrogen source. Ammoniacal nitrogen may increase blossom-end rot as excess ammonium ions reduce calcium uptake. Avoid over-fertilization as side dressings during early fruiting, especially with ammoniacal forms of nitrogen. Avoid drought and sever moisture fluctuations by using mulches and watering. Plants generally need about one inch of moisture per week. To find out more informations go to:
