My crepe myrtle has tiny round white specs on trunk & branches.?


Question:don't think it's powdery mildew (it's not on the leaves); so what is it & do i need to treat it?
just happened in the last few weeks after all the rains we've had in North Texas.
this is an established crepe myrtle - about 20 ft tall.

scale insect. probably cottony scale. spray an insecticide listed for scale as soon as possible
