this is normal - ants are a very common insect. If you really want to get rid of them, try usinga liquid insecticide such as carbaryl (Sevin), or a pyrethroid insecticide such as Spectracide Triazicide®, Ortho Home Defense System®, or Bayer Advanced® Lawn & Garden Multi-Insect Killer.
i have them too. really enjoy pouring boiling water down their little ant holes!!!
Must be common, I always get them, only in one patch at the end of the garden. I use warm soapy water but not really sure if it does much!
We have loads but they are not a big problem only if they get in the home. Just keep the doors closed in a thunderstorm as they become flying ants and get everywhere.
We are all Gods creatures, leave them alone as they do no harm to your lawn, just do not lie on them as they can bite.
Unless they are fire ants, they don't really do any harm. Just let them alone.
you can buy ant powder it makes your grass have white patches but it does not kill the grass as we have also had a massive nest, to which they all died, just be careful and read the labels, especially if you have animals as some are bad and some are not.
i've had this problem before...
~use water with dish soap to spray on the ants directly
~use boiling water to pour directly in the ant holes
this should take careof it...you may need to do it a couple times if they are really bad.
