Is it better to purchase a Boston fern from?

Question:a retailer that kept it indoors if I'm planning to keep it as a houseplant? Or does it matter if it was kept outside in the garden center? I don't want to purchase one that will not adapt at being inside my home. Thanks for your input/experience on this matter.
