How fast will it take for me to grow grass in my backyard?
Question:My son's 2 pitts have totally made the backyard a mine field in some areas and I have just received a call from a home inspector coming to inspect the home. What is the quickest way to grow grass within 1 week? Please, any suggestions?

If you want to attempt to grow grass from seedlings, I would suggest Scotts Quick Fix grass seed, it is about 90% annual ryegrass(will not comeback next year), but this seed is typically used for situations like yours. I would rake the bare spots, put down a high quality soil, such as Scotts TurfBuilder Seeding Soil, then finally spread the seed over the soil and water...water...water! You should get some grass within 4-5 days. You can find the above products at your local Home Depot or Lowes. Good Luck!!!

You can't grow enough grass in a week from seed to accomplish your goal. Here is the better choice: Buy some sod and replace your bare spots with sod. You can dig out a square or rectangular shallow hole around each bare spot. Then cut a piece of sod to fit into the shallow hole. Doing this is hard work and is not practical for the average dog owner, however for the purpose of selling your house, it might be your best course of action. Another easy way out is a spray at the pet stores which is basically just a green spray paint designed to hide bare spots by making them green like the rest of your yard. Not as good as replacing bare spots with real grass, but better than brown bare spots. Good luck!
