What is the best kind of fencing to put up around a house, but yet affordable?

Question:

Answers:
Take a look at post and rail fences. They are also called "ranch-style" fences. We had one installed 2 years ago and have had nothing but compliments from all our neighbors. It is 42" high with posts every 8 feet and 3 rails. It has a wire mesh to keep pets safe. Take a look here: http://www.firstfence.com/ranchrailwithw...

Chain link, for the money. Wooden fencing has really gotten out of hand!
Only you know how deep your pockets are. What's affordable to you may be out of the question for me, and vice-versa. Contact a reliable fencing company, have them come out and measure the lineal footage required, and provide you with some estimates on the many different types of fencing that's available.
Chain link is not that expensive depending on how large of an area. My husband did our back yard in privacy fencing (did it himself) and cost over 3000 dollars in materials alone.

However he did a white picket fence for me in the front yard and it cost under 1000. Again he did it all himself didn't buy the pickets precut he cut them himself. But then again he owns his own construction/remodeling company so he has the skills to do so many aren't able to do it themselves and more then likely the labor will cost more then the materials
Chain link is the least expensive that offers good protection, but some areas don't permit it (especially if you live in an HOA).
Most durable for the price and ease of maintenance is chain link fencing. Wood fencing is getting expensive, plus needs replacement if not kept painted. If you want privacy fence though, spend the extra bucks and go with PVC instead of wood as it will last longer and has no maintenance either.

If you are just wanting to define your yard, not secure it or contain pets or kids, then you could also look at plants like hedge roses or privet hedge, boxwood, or other bushes or small trees.
