Dead heading?

Question:I am confused about how much your supposed to take off.just the petally part? or the greenish(or yellowish) part that attatches it to the stem or what? and how dead does it need to be? dry and crackly or just wilty?

Answers:
for my daisies it take the whole dead flower off when it starts to look whilty.. but i found if i do that for my petunias the grow really tall and dont get an many blooms, so i just pull off the colored part.. good luck!

after the flower is spent, snap or snip the entire flower head off at the stem.
If you are talking about roses, you need to make the cut just above the first set of leaves with five leaves on the stem. You can do it when the petals starts to turn brown, or wait until all the petals fall off.

It depends on the type of plant.
