Worried about my palms. Can you help?
Question:I have two very large palms in pots, one over 12ft. This year a lot of the leaves have gone very yellow, not just the odd one as usual.I give them palm feed so any advice?I'd be gutted to lose them!

Hi,First, how long have they been in those pots?Could be time for re-potting. If their in the biggest pots you can get, then you need to get rid of the old dirt and put in new. Also there could be something eating the roots. Like Grubs,or other bugs. Another thing that would make the leves turn yellow would be overwatering, lack of Iron. Can't think af much else. I hope you don't loose them, I have very large trees and plants in pots too. I had a palm that was about 12 ft. It was in it's pot for thirty years, until we finally put it in the ground It was my moms. Bye
My immediate responce is root bound. A 12ft. tree has a lot of roots, and it's in a pot so they can't spread out.
Like the others I'd say you probably need a HUGE pot for plants that big. I know someone else that had the same problem and re-potting pretty much solved it for them. You might check at a local plant nursery and see what they recommend and what the biggest pots they have consist of. If you can't find a pot big enough, you might consider building or having built a large box and lining it with plastic to hold them.
