How do I care for a Jacaranda tree with a split across entire length?

Question:Hi- I bought 2 Jacaranda trees a few months back and planted them in my yard. The trees are maybe 12-14' tall. One of the trees looks great- already lots of purple blooms and all the branches at the top. The other tree has no blooms and doesn't look good. The tree has some green leaves at the top, but also about half the branches/leaves are brown. There are 3 small offshoots which come off at about 3', 4' and 6' from the bottom. Upon further review, the tree has a big split/crack which runs all the way from the ground up to where the main branches stop. At first i tried wrapping tree with that white cloth roll from home depot, but then i removed that and sprayed the entire crack with some sort of sealant that looks like asphault. There has been no change for this tree- good or bad. is this tree a goner? if not, how do i help it along?

Answers:
I would advise you to remove it.It will by now have been infected with rot. You will be wasting your time trying to revive it.The only way you could do that, would be to cut it off below the crack, and wait for regrowth. But you will be waiting a long time. Jacarandas are really lovely trees.Good Luck!

Sorry to say so, but this trees a goner, in my opinion. I'm not fully sure though. But this baby has been cooked.
