What kind of tree drops those spiky brown balls?
Question:they start green then they turn all brown with holes in them, i hate them! what type of tree is it?

I believe it is the SWEET GUM TREE...those things hurt when you walk on them!

liquidambars styraciflua - The Sweet Gum. They do turn beautiful colors in the fall - quite varied and unique.
those are not from Sycamore trees...we have two Sycamore trees and zero gum balls
they are not called gum balls for no reason
