How soon after sodding should I fertilize and what type should I buy ?. Live in SE Michigan.?

Question:The sod is the type with topsoil attached and is Kentucky Bluegrass.

Answers:
Your ground should have been properly prepared before any sod was laid....this includes tilling, aereating, fertilizing, and then raking/smoothing. Once the sod is down the MOST important thing is watering, don't over water as this will promiote short root depth, don't allow it to dry out to the point it turns brown or yellow, deep watering with soaker hoses will keep evaporation to a minimum and as the name implies, the water soaks into the ground. A starter fertilizer can be used but keep it to a minimum. Do NOT fertilize every 4 to 6 weeks. Except for iron, everything else in the fertilizer can and will build up and then you are into a whole new problem. An application of fertilizer in the Spring and another in the Fall (Winterizer) should be ample.

I would just hit it with a light amount of fertilizer. Like a 5-2-0 or something similar. If you go light you can fertilize every two weeks if watering well, which you should be with new sod.
You can fertilize 4-6 weeks after installation, however I would wait until fall (it will be fine, just keep it watered until then). If you must, use the cheapest slow release fertilizer you can find, or an organic like milorganite.

I had sod put in about a month ago, also kentucky blue grass, and put starter fertilizer and watered it regularly. Right now my grass is lush and green.

I asked one of the local stores (not a big corporation store like Home Depot or Lowes) and you can put down starter fertilizer when you get sod put in.
I would wait until this fall or next spring to fertilize
