Are tomatoe worms COMMON in NEW YORK area?

Question:yuk, so far I've not had any I don't think, but this yr. am planting a HUGE garden

Answers:
I am about the same lattitude as Albany. I get tomato hornworm and fruit worm every year Bt is an organic spray that will take care of them

IF YOU Spray this on dill, carrot or parsley you are killing the
parsley worm or the larval stage of the Black Swallowtail Butterfly. The male is yellow and black, There is no need to kill this one, except if your over run There is a difference, stop at your Agway or Blue Seal dealer and look them up in Ortho's Problem solver or on the net

they are common EVERYWHERE! in the northeast at least. they love dill and parsley. so try to keep those away from your tomatoes...
If you don't already, plant marigolds and calandula around your tomatoes... they seem to keep those little buggers away. Also, plant your tomatoes in different places every year.
Yes. A common precaution is to make an index card or toilet paper roll collar for each of your plants so the worms can't wrap around the stem. Good Luck !!
Horn worms also known as tomato worms can be VERY pesty! I don't know about you but here in California they get esspecially crazy in August. I've planted marigolds and moved my tomato's and all of the above and nothing seems to work but good old Horn worm hunting! If you have kids of your own give them the task, if not invite some neighbor kids! I would throw mine on my roof so the wild birds could eat them or I'd take them directly to our coup and let our chickens devour them! Anyhow, keep up on them because they can do sooo much damage in one day! The best time to look for them is in the evenings when the sun is off the tomato plants.
