Do I need to treat tap water before I add fish to my goldfish pond?

Question:I recently lost all of the fish in my pond because I added too much water that hadn't had the chlorine removed, but they had been fine for years before that. I read somewhere that if you let the water sit for a day before adding fish and that will remove the chlorine but I want to make sure before I add fish again.

call your local pet store & ask. The water in your community may have more than chlorine. My area utilizes cloromines (misp) in water which cannot settle from standing a few days nor boiling. Fish owners have to rely on boughten water or rain water - - definitely not tap water.
Start Rite works great to get the chlorine out of any tab water. You can get it at any pet store. Also take a sample of your water and get it tested. Good luck.
Yes, you need to remove the chlorine from tap water. The proof is in the puddin' so to speak. I can flush my 500 gal. pond out every day if I want with no bad results to my 14 very large gold fish, but I do not have chlorinated water. I use watergarden.com to answer all my pond questions and you can even get dechlorinating additives there.
Yes leave it to stand a day or two. The temperature equalizers and also make sure you oxygenate it first.
