Pointing slabs/flagstones.?

Question:i have just layed 50 paving slabs, now comes the arduous task of pointing, does anyone have any good tips or easy methods of pointing? can i infill partially with sand before i apply the mortar? kind regards to all.

Answers:
Mix grit sand with cement,4 parts sand to 1 part cement, make sure the mix is semi dry.You will then be able to brush it in to the joints without getting all over your new flagstones.Make sure you do this when its not going to rain. When it sets it will key your flagstones in.

Listen to Yodda, you know which 'path' you must make.
Buy a bag of kiln dried sand (B&Q etc sell it) - dump it on the slabs ( not while they are wet though!) and it can be brushed VERY easily between the cracks before you top off with mortar.
Mix a dry mix of sharp sand and cement 6:1 is ok. Sweep it into the gaps. Tamp it down with a thin bit of wood or trowel. Leaving a gap for mortar if you wish.
