Any ideas for plant combinations near a man made pond?

Question:The surrounding soil is average, tends to be dry, so bog plantings won't work. I'd like to make it look more natural and inviting to wildlife. Thanks for your help.

Answers:
I have grasses and flowers around my pond they do great and I live in arizona. Go to your local nursery and pick some you like, even your local lowes or home depot is a good place. Nursery plants tend to do better even small srubs work good. Ask for help with wildlife plants to attract all. Good luck its kinda like furniture, pick what you like.

Hi! You didn't say where you are located but here in Maryland I have seen some nice plantings of native Bald Cypress and native Sweet Bay, (a Magnolia). Further from the pond's edge you can plant Summersweet (Calyclanthus), another native shrub which grows in low areas near water but tolerates some dryer conditions.

Hope this helps.
