Putting green in backyard?

Question:how do I do this, can I just Mow the lawn really short in a place? I dont want to reseed or buy anything...

Answers:
please reword you question

Yes you can mow really short, just make sure that you keep everything even or it might look funny.
Without reseeding with the correct kind of grass, you will never truly make a green. But you could get a roller and roll the grass to make it smooth. That would at least be an effort.
I am not sure what you mean exactly, but my definition of mowing short would be mowing way too close to the ground. If you mean the other way, then you are correct. Lawns enjoy being mowed but not too often.

St. Augustine grass is tough and spreads well. You did not mention what type of grass you have. Just some editing on your part might help me answer the question better
It's not clear what you're asking.

Mowing the grass short will not make it greener, it will make it shorter, and it will require more water and attention.
I believe you are asking about a golf green?!?! The problem is that most grasses can not live as such short heights. Most greens are made up of bentgrass or close equivolent and can be maintained at fractions of an inch. Most lawn grasses (centipede, st. augustine, rye, zoysia) would not work very well on golf courses, unless we're talking rough, which is exactly what you would get trying to putt on these grasses.
