How can you tell if an eggplant is ready to be picked off the plant?

Question:we planted an eggplant plant in our garden and there is one that is already pretty big - but since the coloring of it never changed i can't tell when it's ready to pick.

Answers:
Pretty much when it gets to the size you want to eat it...

eggplants can be pick as soon as they flower it all depends on your taste the smaller the better tasteing it also depends on what you are going to use them for stuffing sliceing frying bakeing etc its up to the individual ps same for squash
Pick it now! The smaller fruit are tastier and less fibrous than the larger ones. I think that around 5 inches in length is good. Good luck---
fruits of eggplants can be harvested everyafter 2 to three days after which the seeds will be matured and the fruits too.
