Question:my girlfriend and I want to plant a tree or some kind of plant together as a symbol of our love. I'm looking for something that will grow year round. would also like for the plant/tree to have meaning and history behind it. I live in alabama. any ideas?

Answers:
A cherry tree,it will feed you and the birds eventually. It blooms beautifully, will last forever.Dogwoods are nice too.

How about Holly bushes. You have to have both a male and a female bush to get the red berries. :)
dogwoods are great.an american elm grow to be a large beatiful tree. or a magnificent oak.
ive planted oaks for this purpose, but they are decidious. strong, long living, large crown giving shade to others, but slow growing. very symbolic. all the qualities that i assume that you two want to emulate with this gesture. strength, steadyness, the good and bad (seasons) and cherity.
