Can i lay sod over topsoil covering landscaping rock??
Question:
Answers:
If you want a healthy lawn, I would recomend taking the rock out first. The rock may provide too much drainage and the new sod may not get the water it needs. New sod needs a lot of care at first to get established. It need to develop a good root system so it needs to be in contact with the dirt and by having a lot of landscaping rock right underneath it just might kill the sod. . .which is a lot of wasted money for you.
Doing some work to remove the rock is better then spending more money on more sod.
why not? Sod (or grass) grows almost everywhere in all types of soil conditions. Landscaping rock provides good(but expensive drainage)
I'm going for it...I could be wrong...uh, NO?
sure u can but the rain will wash it away remove the rock then lay the sod this is easier but it will work if u use enuf topsoil
Yes you can. In fact the base you have will not hurt anything as long as you take the steps you mention
It would be best to take up the rocks.
The rocks would t be at the level of the grass roots. This area wouldn't hold the water long enough to be of use for the grass. (It would drain through the rocks to a lower level.)
You would have to water the area more then normal & it would be the first area to dry up.
