When should i fertilize my bermuda grass lawn? does the grass need to be dry, wet? morning or evening?

Question:i have heard to use a 16-4-8 fertilizer for bermuda grass. is that correct. please someone give me details for a fertilization schedule for my grass in plain english.

Answers:
Supposed to need higher Nitrogen which is 1st # (ex. 29-3-4). If you have a sandier soil then look for something with higher Potassium also which is the last # (ex. 14-5-14).

Around April grass starts coming back so when getting green apply 1st of 3 applications. About 6-8 weeks later the 2nd & in another 6 wks the 3rd.

Sounds like the 16-4-8 is probably a good choice. Opt for a fertilizer that is 'slow release' too.

Don't know about the wet or dry. Probably doesn't matter... Put it on dry then water in... Fertilizer you get may tell you if it matters.

Good Luck!

Fertilize with a weed and feed (I don't remember the #'s, but the weed and feed by any company are pretty much the same) following directions on bag 4 times per year. To remember when to do it, just use the holidays: Valentines Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day (depending on where you live). Put on a pre-emergence (not a fertilizer, but kills the weeds before they pop up) February or March, depending on growing season. Weeds come out early.
