I live in Utah, Salt Lake Area, what type of plant or tree would work best for a privacy barrier?

Question:This would have full sun, be planted next to a cinder-block fence on the north and west sides. I would like it to be 20ft tall at least. I was thinking bamboo, but don't know anything about it.

Answers:
A ROW OF CYPRESS TREES

I have a privacy fence around my back yard made up of Thuja Green Giants, they are evergreen and grow pretty fast, you can obtain at Home depot, Lowe's etc... Make sure you get Thuja Green giants and not emerald green arborvitae. The size difference will amaze you. The green giants get about 40 feet tall and depending how wide you space them. They are similar to the Leyland Cypress, but Leylands tend to get that fungus if planted to close together, The green giants are a bit more tolerant of each other and are deer resistant as well, Make great christmas trees as well. They grow pretty much anywhere, but you will definitely see dramatic growth for these evergreens if watered every other day or so depending on your zone. You can obtain these at HD or Lowe's, if none in stock Ebay is another great place to get them, but again Thuja Green Giant is the name of them. I have 125 of them around my 2 acre place in Atlanta only had 1 die because I severed the root ball by accident (oops)when planting. They grow on average 3 to 5 feet per year and there are plenty of pics available on Yahoo pics. Another option versus doing Bamboo, would be Hybrid Willow (ebay once again). I planted these to see if it was true that they would grow so fast, it did but its not evergreen and doesn't hide as much, but its another option. Best of luck!
Be careful with bamboo as it can spread quickly! Try a Viburnum or Virginia Creeper. Virginia Creeper will grow against the wall similar to an Ivy but you need to train it to grow up the wall. Viburnum is more like a bush, but it will grow quite tall and you can trim it back if it gets too full.
