Question:If I pour Ammonia and Bleach into an ant bed what is the resulting gas produced? What happens to the ants?

If you don't gas yourself, all you'll do is kill the guard ants. The queen is way deep down away from gas attack. You need something that will be carried to Her Highness, fed to her and kill her. Amdro is a commercial ant killer that works well.
If you insist on homemade concoctions: take boric acid (Roach Pruf) and mix it with simple syrup (boil 2 sugars to 1 water until dissolved, cool) Dip cotton balls into this now deadly brew and put them into a small container (like a babyfood jar) that has small holes in the lid so the ants can get in but other animals (like pets and small children) can't. Put this in a place where the ants frequent, but not in sunlight. The workers carry this sweet treat back to the queen. If your ants are protein eaters..the ones that bite you, mix the boric acid with peanutbutter and put into the container.

pour boiling hot water on them instead you don't want to cause a deadly gas for those around you and yourself by mixing those 2 together!!!! or buy some natural ant spry at certain hardware stores.
